Q. Why a Humanist Celebrant?
A. Humanist wedding celebrants aim to be guided by reason, inspired by compassion and informed by experience rather than religion. I conduct wedding ceremonies that focus on you as people and the adventure of life. Together we explore your unique connection and personality – bringing everyone closest to you together to celebrate your marriage ceremony!
Q. Are your wedding ceremonies legal?
A. Absolutely – As a Fuze Ceremonies humanist celebrant and Marriage Officer authorised by the Fuze Foundation under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977.
Q. Is there guidance on marriage/Civil partnerships on Scotland?
A. Yes – it can be found here.
Q. Do you officiate same sex weddings?
A. Absolutely!
Q. Does my religion or faith matter?
A. Not in so far as the content of a Celebrant led ceremony. You are not restricted to any culture, faith or religion. You can include anything you desire.
Q. Where can I hold my ceremony?
A. Anywhere you want, outside, inside, in a forest, on the beach, at home, just be sure to have a contingency for bad weather and any permissions for private property/land
Q. When can I hold my ceremony?
A. Anytime. Dusk, Dawn, Sunrise, sunset, up to you.
Q. What can I include in my ceremony?
A. Whatever you want. Poems, songs, hymns, readings, whatever you want. Pets are not out of the equation either, often used as ring bearers
Q. Can we have a rehearsal?
A. Yes, for all Weddings, Commitment, Civil Partnership, Renewal of Vows and Merging Families ceremonies you are offered the opportunity of a rehearsal and I highly recommend it before the actual day.
Q. What does the celebrant do on the day?
A. I will be at the venue an hour before the ceremony is due to start checking the room/area the ceremony is taking place in to ensure all is ok. I will then officiate your bespoke ceremony and do everything in my power to make sure your ceremony meets your expectations.
Q. What do we have to do for the ceremony?
A. It’s your ceremony so it is up to you how much you do or don’t want to do. You may also wish to include family and friends.
Q. How long does a ceremony usually last?
A. 20 and 45 minutes depending on the type of ceremony and content
Q. Are you willing to travel?
A. Yes, however, your fee includes travel within 50 miles of Perth. Any mileage thereafter will be negotiated. Similarly, if an overnight stay is required the night prior to the ceremony, this will be negotiated.
